This presentation is designed for younger children and will include a reading of THE PENCIL EATER and a discussion about the concepts of print and the parts of a book.

This presentation will explore the story elements. This lesson begins with a reading of THE PENCIL EATER and will include a discussion of the story elements found in the selection. To wrap up the presentation, we will have a craft and a question and answer session.
Grades 3-6
Path to Publication- 1 hr.
Path to Publication is a presentation about how the author took an idea she had in the classroom and developed it into a published picture book. This discussion will include a reading of THE PENCIL EATER and cover topics such as generating ideas, drafting, editing, revision, and perseverance through rejection. A question and answer session will conclude this presentation.
